Ossification

**Ossification** is the process of formation of bone tissue in those areas of the body where this does not occur from birth. This process occurs for a variety of reasons, including injury, age-related changes, or genetic disorders. Ossification can occur in many parts of the body, including the skeleton, cartilage, ligaments, and tendons. However, ossifications in skeletal muscles and the facial skeleton are less common. Ossifications can lead to a variety of symptoms such as pain, loss of movement and function, and growth restriction in ancestral fossils. Diagnosis of fossils can be made by x-rays, CT scans, and other imaging techniques. Treatment for fossilization may include surgery, physical therapy, medications, and other methods. It is important to consult a doctor at the first symptoms of petrification in order to begin treatment in a timely manner and prevent the development of complications.
