Organ Zuckerkandlya

The organ of Zuckerkandl is a synonym for the paraganglion of the aortic lumbar.

The lumbar aortic paraganglion is an unpaired organ located in the posterior mediastinum at the level of the XII thoracic and I lumbar vertebrae. Refers to the diffuse endocrine system. Consists of chromaffin cells that produce catecholamines. It is an important regulator of vascular tone and blood pressure.
