Панникулит (Panniculitis)

Panniculitis is an inflammation of the subcutaneous fatty tissue, leading to the appearance of multiple dense nodules on the legs and torso.

Panniculitis can be caused by a variety of reasons, including infections, autoimmune diseases, injuries, medications, and others. Symptoms include painful nodules in the subcutaneous fat that may harden, soften, or ulcerate.

Diagnosis is based on the clinical picture and skin biopsy results. Treatment depends on the cause and severity of the disease. It may include antibiotics, glucocorticoids, immunosuppressants, and physical therapy. The prognosis depends on the form of panniculitis.

Panniculitis requires the attention of a doctor. Timely treatment can prevent complications and reduce the likelihood of relapses.

Panniculitis is an inflammation of the subcutaneous fatty tissue, which leads to the appearance of multiple dense nodules on the legs and torso.

With panniculitis, inflammation of subcutaneous fat deposits occurs. This leads to the formation of foci of necrosis of adipose tissue and the formation of nodules in the subcutaneous fat. These nodules may be painful or painless.

Among the reasons for the development of panniculitis are:

  1. Autoimmune diseases (rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus)
  2. Infections (streptococcal and staphylococcal infections)
  3. Injuries
  4. Lipid disorders
  5. Reactions to drugs

The clinical picture of panniculitis is characterized by the appearance of multiple subcutaneous nodes ranging in size from several millimeters to several centimeters. The nodes are most often localized on the lower extremities and trunk. There may be soreness, redness and swelling of the skin.

Diagnosis of panniculitis is based on medical history, clinical picture and the results of histological examination of a biopsy of subcutaneous fat.

Treatment for panniculitis depends on the cause of its development. Glucocorticosteroids, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and antibiotics can be used. In severe cases, surgical removal of the affected areas of subcutaneous fat may be required.

Thus, panniculitis is an inflammatory lesion of the subcutaneous fatty tissue, which is manifested by the formation of multiple nodes. Timely diagnosis and adequate treatment of panniculitis can prevent the progression of the disease and the development of complications.

Inflammation of the subcutaneous fatty tissue (panniculitis) is a serious disease that can lead to serious complications and even death. This disease is also known as Lapp disease or panniculotoxicosis. Panniculitis is an inflammatory disease caused by toxic substances such as lead, mercury, arsenic, chromium, nickel and others. This pathology also occurs when taking certain medications.

Symptoms of panniculitis

- Panniculitis most often appears on the legs, especially on the knees, hips, and ankles. Other areas of the body such as the abdomen, back, chest and face may also be affected. - The incubation period of the disease can last from several hours to several days. - Symptoms of panniculitis may include severe pain in the joints, muscles and bones, fever, nausea, vomiting, weakness, and apathy. With this disease, darkening of the skin on the affected area of the body is often observed, up to the formation of black color. Panniculitis can take various forms:

• edematous • nodular • macular • confluent

The edematous form is characterized by swelling of the skin and subcutaneous fat in the area of accumulation of adipose tissue. The nodular form is manifested by multiple dense nodules on the legs or torso, which cause severe pain. The macular form is characterized by severe pain in the face, which spreads to the neck. The draining form resembles a wide swelling of the soft tissues under the skin. Treatment for panniculitis depends on the cause of the disease. Initially, exposure to toxic substances should be excluded and then you can begin to treat inflammation of the subcutaneous tissue. All medications should be used only after consultation with a specialist. In the presence of multiple nodules, surgical treatment may be required. Some cases of panniculitis requiring surgery are associated with skin, subcutaneous fat or tissue lesions, or pulmonary disease. Surgery may also be required for nodular panniculitis.

Panniculitis is an inflammation of the subcutaneous tissue. The disease often occurs in patients with metabolic disorders, gastrointestinal diseases, rheumatism or allergic reactions. Symptoms include swelling and redness of the skin, the appearance of lumps and nodules. For an accurate diagnosis, instrumental and laboratory research methods, as well as a biopsy of the affected areas, are performed. Therapy is selected on an individual basis, including dietary nutrition, medication and physical therapy. The prognosis depends on the cause of the pathology, but as a rule, inflammation tends to recur. Spontaneous remission is observed in most patients.
