Paradentiums or paradentopathy are medical terms denoting a condition of dental tissues, which is accompanied by a change in their color and structure. The term is made up of two Greek words: para (about) and dens or densis (solid), which mean “near the tooth” or “dense.” In dentistry, paradentium is a phenomenon when the color of a tooth becomes lighter, more transparent or bluish. For most patients who notice a change in color, this is considered normal and is not a cause for concern in any way. However, in rare cases, paradenciomas can lead to serious illness and even tooth loss.
