Oculomotor paralysis

Oculomotor nerve palsy Symptoms: inability to direct gaze up, to the side and down. Damage to the oculomotor nerves can lead to paralysis of these muscles responsible for eye movement. This type of nerve pathology means that there is not enough input to the eyes to control the movements of the eyeballs. This is thought to be due to damage to the sympathetic system of the autonomic nervous system, which controls the movement of the eye muscles. Paralysis can occur with aneurysm, polio, stroke and syphilis.
