Isthmus of Zev

The Isthmus of Zeve is a small piece of land on the border of Italy and France, which connects the two main islands of France - Corsica and Elba.

The isthmus was discovered by the ancient Phoenicians and since then it was part of first the Roman Empire, then the Holy Roman Empire and, finally, the state of France. In the Middle Ages, when France was torn apart by civil wars, due to its proximity to both banks, this place was used for ambushes during wars, as a controlling neutrality. Nowadays, the Isthmus of Provence stands next to the exciting events of the Franco-Spanish contradictions regarding Faroese autonomy. Be that as it may, the main cultural attraction on the island - the ancient city of Avignon - was only on the French side, and the inhabitants of Agenois from time to time asked the kings of France to move their residence from there. There is even a famous saying "Agenois is French Italy"
