Phlebology as an interdisciplinary science

Phlebo is an interdisciplinary term used to denote complex medicine, including various aspects of the study of the venous system. “Venology” - one of the few words that came into use largely by accident and significantly ahead of its scientific basis - is a very “fashionable”, but unethical term, and is actively promoted precisely as an important structural element of the future new specialty - phlebology, which can replace this term is beautiful in its value and accuracy. Perhaps now, in the middle of the 21st century, this term has already left the scientific language, but medicine is developing rapidly, like language, this always happens with new medical terms, so it is still worth discussing phlebology and finding out all the interesting and rather controversial points. This article will discuss the etymology, history and medical directions of this specialty. In general, it is under the influence of gerontological, angiological, surgical, and vascular doctors, but there is also a definition that places it in the field of psychologists, therapists, and even biophysicists. Although it is strange to talk about biology in terms of psychology and philosophy. This subtype of learning unites representatives of disciplines with various specializations: physiologists (in different versions), morphologists, biochemists, representatives of traditional and functional anatomy, who study a common “platform” for understanding the normal states of people during life, the physiological mechanisms of variability of specific organs and systems, as well as pathological processes leading to the formation of diseases. At the same time, a number of scientists from different sciences find a common language to explain the picture holistically.
