Urethroplasty According to Joganson

Urethroplasty according to Joganson is a surgical operation, the purpose of which is to restore the patency of the urethra with its strictures.

The operation is as follows:

  1. An incision is made in the perineum and the urethra is opened along the stricture.

  2. A flap of the mucous membrane is taken from the penis, which is used to replace the defect in the urethra.

  3. The flap is fixed in the area of the stricture, thus restoring the lumen and epithelial lining of the urethra.

  4. The wound is sutured tightly.

This restores urethral patency and eliminates stricture. The advantage of this method is the use of the patient’s own tissue for plastic surgery, which reduces the risk of flap rejection. The operation allows achieving good functional results.
