Pneumosclerosis Tobacco

Among the various types of pulmonary diseases caused by tobacco smoking, one of the most common and dangerous is pneumosclerosis. It causes hardening and scarring of lung tissue, which impairs lung function and can lead to serious complications. In this article we will look at the topic of pneumosclerosis and its consequences for the health of a smoker

Pneumosclerosis is a kind of changes in lung tissue that arise as a result of prolonged action of various factors (including diseases of the respiratory system and cardiovascular system, purulent and allergic diseases). The concept of “pneumosclerosis” has recently been more often used to characterize the pathological process caused by diseases of the respiratory system.

Pneumosclerosis can be diffuse - when there is a uniform compaction of tissue over the entire surface of the lungs, focal - characterized by compaction in the form of foci on the surface of the lung lobes. There are also confluent (cavitary) and interstitial (interstitial) pneumosclerosis. 20–30% of the Russian population have certain breathing disorders due to diseases of the lungs and bronchi, and about a third of them require treatment. According to data from 25 years ago, 87% of all newly diagnosed diseases of the respiratory system in adults were chronic inflammation of the bronchi and bronchioles. A third of patients die. Chronic diseases of the respiratory system occupy 6th place in the structure of mortality in our country. 40% of those who died from respiratory diseases (including smokers) died from COPD - diseases or conditions that develop as a result of repeated attacks
