Polymorph, or polymorphonuclear leukocyte, is a type of white blood cell also known as a neutrophil. Neutrophils make up 50-70% of all leukocytes and play an important role in nonspecific immunity. They are the first to arrive at the site of inflammation and phagocytose bacteria and other foreign particles.

The name "polymorphonuclear" is associated with the multisegmented neutrophil nucleus, which consists of 2-5 segments. Thanks to this nucleus, the cell can easily deform and penetrate through the tissue to the site of inflammation.
