The Prokunin operation is one of the key operations of the Great Patriotic War, aimed at the complete liberation of the city of Orel from the fascist occupation in 1943, followed by its successful implementation. It was carried out during the Battle of Kursk by the Red Army.
The essence of the operation included the creation of three well-fortified strong points and the encirclement of the enemy. At the same time, a successful external blockade made it possible to completely neutralize the enemy, limiting his resources and options for retreat. The number of Germans killed in this operation was approximately 30,000.
