Proteinuria Renal

Renal proteinuria: understanding and consequences

Renal proteinuria, also known as protein in the urine, is a medical condition in which protein is present in unusually high concentrations in the urine. This phenomenon indicates a disruption of the normal filtration function of the kidneys and may indicate the presence of serious kidney disease.

Renal function and filtration

The kidneys play an important role in maintaining the health of the body. They perform the function of filtering the blood, removing waste and excess fluid from the body, and regulating electrolyte levels and acid-base balance. This process occurs through small filtration units in the kidneys called nephrons.

Proteinuria and its causes

Normally, the protein is almost completely retained in the blood vessels and does not penetrate into the urine through the filtering structures of the kidneys. However, if there are problems with the kidneys, protein can penetrate through damaged filters.
