Akinetic psychosis (akinesia psychosis), or akinetoabulic psychosis, is a chronic psychotic disorder of the motor sphere, characterized by akinesia (bradykinesia), amymia, the ability to move independently, and poor facial expressions, which sometimes occurs in schizophrenia. Named according to the classification of Bleuchler and Kwerk, among which the authors indicated its existence in the literature under the name asthenic type. In contrast to akathisia, the syndrome is observed in a significantly smaller number of patients, and bradykinesia is more often typical with it.
