The pubic arch is an arched bone that is located between the pubis and coccyx. It plays an important role in the formation of the pelvis and ensures the stability of the musculoskeletal system of the lower extremities.
The pubic arch consists of three bones: the anterior (pubic), middle (symphysis) and posterior (coccygeal). Each bone has a smooth surface on which muscles and ligaments are located. The middle zone of the symphysis is surrounded by tissue called the pubic symphysis. The pubic symphysis performs the function of holding the pubic arch in the correct position. It also plays an important role in childbirth as it helps the baby pass through the mother's birth canal.
