How to choose

When purchasing powder with SPF, it is recommended to pay attention to several factors.

Filter type

The most common mineral filters used in powders are zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. They create a special “screen” on the surface of the epidermis that reflects ultraviolet radiation. They are considered safer than their chemical counterparts, which penetrate the skin and work by absorbing rays. Such substances are rarely used in powder.

The rays that the sun pampers us with are divided into 3 types:

1. UVC is the most dangerous short-wave rays, which, under favorable environmental conditions, are retained by the ozone layer and therefore cannot harm the skin;
2. UVB - medium-length rays that reach only the upper layers of the epidermis, causing redness, burns, and sometimes cancerous pathologies;

Powders can have SPF from 10 to 50. The lighter the skin, the higher this figure should be. Since powder is used as an auxiliary product, it should be noted that the SPF levels of products are not cumulative: the degree of protection is determined by the product that has it higher. For example, if you use cream with SPF 30 and powder with SPF 15, then the degree of protection will not be 45, but 30.

The SPF indicator only reflects the degree of protection from B-spectrum rays. If a product is listed as a product that protects against UVA and UVB, then according to European standards the level of protection against A-rays should be at least 1/3 of the SPF.

The powder needs to be twisted a little so that the required amount rises up, because it is compact, but there are metal holes above the powder itself that scrape it off. I hope I wrote it clearly, I don’t know what this process is called :)). Before use, I wipe my face with toner, then moisturizer + (I have to) sunscreen, because SPF20 is catastrophically low for 30–40 degree heat. Well, these are my problems and age spots from the sun, the main thing is that it copes with the main task with a bang. This is by far my favorite mineral powder.
