Pulpitis Ascending

Ascending pulpitis (lat. pulpitas ascendunt) is a pathological process that affects the upper part of the tooth root, located at the junction of the gums and tooth. This disease is manifested by tissue inflammation and swelling of the gums, and a purulent formation in the form of a fistula or abscess may occur. It leads to the rapid spread of infection to other adjacent teeth. Dental pulpitis most often affects the uppermost tooth – the incisors. Pulpitis is very dangerous for health; it can lead to complications such as periodontitis, meningitis, and tonsillitis. The cause of pulpitis is infection of the root part of the tooth as a result of injury or a bite from another tooth. Symptoms of pulpitis are manifested by the fact that the diseased tooth reacts to hot, cold and sour foods. Other symptoms include throbbing and pain in the tooth, and excessive salivation.
