Puncture Suprapubic Capillary

Suprapubic capillary puncture (SCP) is a medical procedure in which capillary blood is taken from the veins located above the pubic bone using a thin needle.

The purpose of P.n.k. is to obtain a capillary blood sample for subsequent laboratory tests. Compared to venous blood, capillary blood contains a larger amount of hormones, metabolites and other biologically active substances. Therefore, capillary blood analysis allows you to obtain more accurate data on the state of metabolic processes in the body.

P.n.k. is carried out with a sterile needle with a diameter of no more than 0.4 mm. The puncture site is the skin above the pubic symphysis. Before the procedure, the skin is treated with an antiseptic. Blood is drawn in small portions to avoid hemolysis of red blood cells.

P.n.k. refers to minimally invasive and safe manipulations. It practically does not cause pain or complications. This allows it to be widely used for laboratory diagnostics in outpatient and inpatient settings.
