Radioecology

**Radioecology** is a science that studies the effects of radiation on living organisms and the environment. Radiation is a form of energy consisting of a stream of particles or quanta of light that have high energy and can destroy molecules and structures in living organisms. The effects of radiation can be both positive and negative. Radioactive isotopes, for example, are used to treat certain diseases and test medications. However, radiation pollution of the environment is also a serious problem. The environment contains many sources of radiation, including natural sources, nuclear facilities and radioactive waste.

The basic concept of radioecology is the permissible rate of exposure to radiation on humans, which
