Flexion-Elbow Reflex

The flexion reflex is an involuntary contraction of the muscles of the forearm and hand when clenching into a fist and bending the fingers at the wrist joint at the same time.

The essence of the phenomenon is that any movement of the carpal bone on the surface of the palm will immediately affect muscle contraction if this joint is underdeveloped or has been damaged (speech function of the cerebral cortex), as well as if the ligaments are weakened, the articular surface is abnormal. The nervous system, under certain conditions, is capable of using the muscular system in a stretched position of the hand, forearm, shoulder and elbow joint to hold the limb in the desired position.
