Relaparotomy

Relaparotomy (from ancient Greek χλείσις - opening), also peritoneopexy (from Greek, protection of the peritoneum), supracap extraperitoneal herniorrhaphy - plastic surgery to eliminate recurrence or complications of a hernia through an artificially made small additional incision, usually in the aponeurosis of the rectus abdominis muscle. Sometimes it can be performed in the presence of a complete or partial violation of the integrity of the abdominal wall, fractures of long bones, and in other cases when it is impossible to close the muscular membrane with “wet” sealing. Due to its unique properties, in certain situations it can be considered as an alternative option for pancreatectomy and operations for pancreatic tumors, especially with resection of the duodenum. In practice, it is rarely performed in isolation, more often as an element of an extended or repeated operation.
