Resibelacta

Resibelacta: an effective medicine from Portugal for bacterial infections

Resibelacta, also known by its international name Cefotaxime, is a pharmaceutical drug manufactured in Portugal by the company Laboratory Atral SA. It belongs to the group of third generation cephalosporins and is widely used to treat severe bacterial infections.

Resibelacta is a powder intended for the preparation of an injection solution. Its active substance is cefotaxime. The medicine is effective against sensitive microorganisms that cause infections of the respiratory tract and ENT organs, infections of the skin and soft tissues, infected wounds and burns, infections of bones and joints, urinary tract, pelvic organs, as well as obstetric and gynecological infections, bacteremia, septicemia and others .

However, before using Resibelacta, some contraindications must be taken into account. The medicine is not recommended for intramuscular administration in cases of hypersensitivity to penicillins, other cephalosporins or carbapenems, as well as during pregnancy, breastfeeding and in children under 2.5 years of age. Caution should also be exercised when used in patients with a history of enterocolitis or chronic renal failure.

Some side effects may occur when using Resibelacta. These may include headache, dizziness, cardiac arrhythmias with rapid administration, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, increased activity of liver enzymes and others. Rare but serious adverse reactions include pseudomembranous colitis, allergic reactions, interstitial nephritis and others.

It is also important to consider the possible interaction of Resibelacta with other drugs. For example, concomitant use with aminoglycosides, polymyxin B and loop diuretics may increase nephrotoxicity. Probenecid may slow the elimination of the drug from the body, increasing its concentration and the risk of side effects.

Overall, Resibelacta is an effective drug for the treatment of severe bacterial infections and is widely used in medical practice. However, as with all medicines, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist before using it to ensure it is appropriate for your specific case and to avoid possible contraindications and side effects.
