Leukemic retinopathy (rarely leukoretinology, leukoretenopathy; from ancient Greek λευκός - white and ῥῆτως - tissue) is a malignant disease of the retina that occurs as a result of the spread of tumor blood cells into the choroid of the eyeball. It may have different symptoms depending on the stage of the disease, but in general it causes blurred vision, inflammation of the eye and the risk of eye loss. Leukemic retinopathy most often affects older people and patients with genetic blood diseases, which significantly increase the risk of the disease.
