Rhinitis Dry Anterior

Rhinitis sicca anterior (RSAn), or chronic uncomplicated rhinosinusitis, is one of the most common diseases of the nose and paranasal sinuses in adults. It is characterized by chronic inflammation of the nasal mucosa, frontal and anterior sinuses in the absence of symptoms associated with the discharge of mucus. This type of rhinitis causes mucus to accumulate in the nose and paranasal space, which can lead to various complications such as the formation of nasal polyps, deviated nasal septum and chronic otitis media.

Dry anterior rhinitis usually manifests itself as dry nose, constant itching, pain in the face and head, problems falling asleep, and disturbances in the sense of smell and taste. The disease is often accompanied by a weakened immune system, impaired local immunity and an increase in the number of bacteria in the nose. In severe cases, RSAn can lead to nasal hypertrophy, abnormal development of facial bones, and premature fatigue.

Treatment of RSAn includes symptomatic treatment to reduce pain and inflammation, as well as topical and systemic antibiotics to control infection.
