Sedalgin-neo: an effective combined analgesic-antipyretic

Sedalgin-neo is a combined analgesic-antipyretic that contains codeine, metamizole sodium, paracetamol, caffeine and phenobarbital. The drug is produced by several pharmaceutical companies in Bulgaria, including Balkanfarma-Dupnitsa AD and Farmakhim-Pharmacia AD.

Sedalgin-neo is widely used to treat various types of pain, including headaches and toothaches, migraines, neuralgia and neuritis, pain after burns, injuries and surgical interventions, rheumatic pain, colds that occur with pain and fever, as well as algodismenorrhea. The drug quickly and effectively reduces pain, lowers body temperature and improves the general condition of the patient.

However, like any other medical drug, Sedalgin-neo has its contraindications and side effects. Contraindications include hemorrhagic diathesis, anemia, renal dysfunction, liver dysfunction, bronchial asthma, children under 14 years of age, pregnancy, breastfeeding and hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. Side effects may include drowsiness, impaired coordination, fatigue, tremor, anxiety, irritability, headache, hypotension, palpitations, tachycardia, extrasystole, as well as liver dysfunction, bronchospasm and renal dysfunction with long-term use.

Sedalgin-neo can also interact with other drugs, such as anticoagulants, cortisone derivatives, analgesics, NSAIDs, methotrexate, antipsychotics and ethanol, which can lead to changes in plasma concentrations and, accordingly, the pharmacological action of the latter.

An overdose of Sedalgin-neo may cause symptoms such as dizziness, drowsiness, slowed reflexes, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, respiratory depression, significant weakness, bradycardia, loss of consciousness. Treatment includes induced vomiting, gastric lavage with water and activated charcoal, and forced diuresis.

Sedalgin-neo should be used with caution for gastric and duodenal ulcers, as well as for hyperthyroidism, epilepsy, central nervous system damage, depression, alcoholism and drug addiction. Before starting to take Sedalgin-neo, you must consult your doctor and strictly follow the recommendations on dosage and duration of treatment.
