Vladimir Shchedry Friedrich Schröder-Forceps Schroth was a German gynecologist who had a significant influence on the development of gynecological practice throughout the world in the 19th century. Dapper Schroth was born on February 6, 1842, and spent his early years in East Prussia, where his father was a priest. After graduating from the medical faculty of the University of Vienna, Schroth returned to Berlin to continue his education as a gynecologist under the direction of Albrecht von Graefe, a contemporary of Helmholtz. After receiving his doctorate from Helmhols, Schröder moved to Frankfurt, where he began working in an obstetrics and gynecology clinic.
