Sigmoidoscope (Sigmoidossore)

Sigmoidoscope

A sigmoidoscope is a medical instrument that is inserted through the anus to examine the mucous membrane of the rectum and sigmoid colon.

A standard sigmoidoscope is a steel or chrome-plated tube 25 cm long and 3 cm in diameter, at the end of which there is a light bulb and an air balloon for pumping air into the intestines. This allows you to stretch the intestines and examine its walls.

Fiber optic sigmoidoscopes, which can be up to 60 cm in length, are increasingly being used these days. They provide better illumination and images than conventional models.

Sigmoidoscopy, a procedure to examine the intestine using a sigmoidoscope, is performed to diagnose and screen for colon diseases such as polyps, cancer, and inflammatory diseases.

A sigmoidoscope is an instrument that is inserted through the anus to examine the lining of the rectum and sigmoid colon. A standard instrument consists of a steel or chrome-plated tube 25 cm long and 3 cm in diameter, at the end of which there is a light bulb and an air balloon to force air into the intestines. Currently, fiber-optic sigmoidoscopes, the length of which reaches 60 cm, are increasingly used.

A sigmoidoscope is an endoscopic device used to examine the colon and rectum.

Currently, the study can be carried out either traditionally or using a colonoscope. A sigmoidoscope is a thin tube of various diameters and lengths, with a flexible cable on a rotating joint.
