Fist symptom

The fist sign is also known as Lewy's sign. Lewy's symptom is characterized by flexion of the thumb inward of the palm while the remaining fingers are extended. This occurs due to paralysis of the thenar muscles (thumb muscles).

Lewy's sign is often observed when the median nerve is damaged. The reasons can be different - trauma, tumors, inflammatory or degenerative diseases. This symptom helps doctors diagnose and determine the level of damage to the median nerve.
