- a disease of the cardiovascular system that affects the heart and peripheral arteries, and sometimes the lungs. Combined sclerosis consists of cases of multiple lesions of blood vessels, usually without other clearly defined changes in the membranes of the vascular walls. Some of these cases are combined with the term “atherosclerosis” (that is, atherosclerotic arteriosclerosis), since it refers to the most common type of this pathology. In the occurrence of arterial diseases, damage to other vascular membranes (arteritis), the so-called arteriolosclerotic (progressive) arteriopathy, which is often observed in hypertension, also plays an important role. Combined sclerosis develops due to the impact of various risk factors on the arterial walls, such as hypertension, obesity, diabetes, smoking and others. It manifests itself in the form of vascular lesions of varying severity, which can lead to myocardial infarction, stroke or other serious diseases.
To prevent the disease, you need to lead a healthy lifestyle, monitor your diet and physical activity, avoid stress, quit smoking and undergo regular medical examinations.
