Socletie

The socletium (socritia) is a multicellular organism consisting of many cells united into one unit due to the presence of common components of the membrane and nucleus. They were first discovered in 1941 by American biologist Arthur Toscanini based on observations of cultures of protozoan ciliates collected using cystoscopy. This discovery served as the basis for the study of a new form of organization of living systems (socions), proposed by E.G. Svyatogletsky under the name “syncyton”. The scientist considers syncytia as highly ordered formations belonging to the category of multicellular organisms
