Valgus foot

Foot valgus (pes valgos) is a congenital deformity of the foot in which its anterior edge is deviated outward. Associated symptoms may include pain in the legs, especially when walking, fatigue of the feet and the appearance of calluses.

This feature can be observed in both children and adults. In childhood, foot valgus is often associated with rickets or Erb-Duchenne pseudoparalysis.

Causes of occurrence The most common cause of this disease is rickets. A sedentary lifestyle leads to the feet becoming relaxed and easily bowed. Therefore, the cause of hallux valgus in adults is sedentary behavior. This pathology is often observed among pregnant women, but sometimes the appearance of such a curvature in adults is associated with incorrect positioning of the foot when making shoes. Deformation mainly appears only with time. It can occur in both right- and left-handed people. However, in some people this deformation may not appear. With this disease, the foot has a peculiar shape: it is wider, its arch bends inward, which is why the foot protrudes forward. Such curvature leads to increased discomfort while walking. When wearing uncomfortable shoes, this pathology will become even more pronounced. Rough skin or poor-quality shoe soles can contribute to the development of this defect. All of these factors contribute to the weakening of the lower leg muscles and aggravation of the situation. The valgama foot represents a tipi
