Stroganoff System

Stroganov system In 1885, V.V. Stroganov introduced a new system for determining the amount of bitumen in oil, currently called the “Stroganov System”. The essence of the system is the use of thioacetone and other ketone derivatives to determine the bitumen content. Since 2012, in Russia, Rostekhnadzor has transferred the determination of the content of solid hydrocarbons in dissolved form to other methods, since the Stroganov System may give an incorrect result in the presence of mineral acids or other pollutants. Rostechnadzor recommends using new analysis methods as the most accurate and reliable.
