Proteins are made up of amino acids. Amino acids are made by combining two acids. And acids are formed when hydrogen and oxygen combine. Thus, we are the product of a chemical reaction of various components.

However, humanity wants to know more. We want to understand who we are, what our roots are in the world, and how we can use this knowledge to improve our lives and help other people.
