Ischiofemoral ligament

The saddle ligament or femoral ligament is a large fibrous structure connecting the upper part of the greater trochanter of the femur and the ischial tuberosity of the sacrum. It acts as a support point during heavy physical activity. The normal development of the ligaments of the hip joint is a key factor in normal life.

The femoral ligament has a thick connective tissue layer - its width is about a centimeter. The outside of the ligament is covered by the periosteum of the femoral triangle of the greater trochanter.

The blood supply to the femoral ligament is carried out by veins from the surrounding tissues. Venous blood collects in the great saphenous and vertebral veins.
