Thekocytes: what are they and what are they for?

Thekocytes are cells that are found in the human body, often also called microscopic droplets, they are an important component of the immune system and are involved in the fight against bacteria, viruses, fungi and other pathogens.

Description and location

* Thekocytes are found throughout the human body and can be found in the peripheral blood, oral cavity, respiratory tract and gastrointestinal tract. In total, there are about three types of thecocytes, differing in appearance and function: - Eosinophils: large granules and nucleus, contain toxic substances and produce histamine, which helps heal wounds after various injuries. They are involved in allergic reactions and the fight against parasites. - Neutrophils: very small cells
