Betagenot: a combination remedy for the treatment of infected skin lesions

Betagenot is a combination drug produced in Russia by Lecco and FF. It contains two active components - gentamicin and betamethasone, and belongs to the pharmacological group of combined drugs containing glucocorticosteroids.

Betagenot is used to treat infected skin lesions, such as dermatoses, allergic and eczematous diseases, non-allergic dermatitis, as well as skin infections in psoriasis vulgaris, exfoliative dermatitis and lichen planus.

The drug is available in the form of drops for the eyes and ears. Its active substances - gentamicin and betamethasone - have anti-inflammatory, antiallergic and antibacterial effects.

Despite its effectiveness, Betagenot has a number of contraindications and side effects. The drug is not recommended for use in case of hypersensitivity to its components, in the presence of chickenpox, skin tuberculosis, vaccination, or during breastfeeding. During pregnancy, Betagenot is prescribed in exceptional cases.

Side effects that may occur when using the drug include burning, itching, irritation, dry skin, folliculitis, hypertrichosis, acne, and hypopigmentation. When used under occlusive dressings, maceration, skin atrophy, stretch marks and miliaria may occur. With prolonged treatment and/or application to large surfaces, systemic side effects may occur.

The drug should be used with caution in children. If signs of sensitization or irritation appear, treatment should be discontinued. If superinfection develops, the drug is discontinued and adequate antibacterial therapy is prescribed.

In general, Betagenot is an effective treatment for infected skin lesions, but its use should be carried out under the supervision of a physician and taking into account the individual characteristics of the patient.
