Thyroid-stimulating hormone, TSH (thyrotropin, thyrotrophic hormone) is a hormone of the anterior pituitary gland that regulates the function of the thyroid gland. It is produced in the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland and stimulates the synthesis and release of the hormones triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4) from the thyroid follicles.
