**Tonsillectomy** or **Latin**: tonsillae surgical operation to remove the palatine tonsils, prescribed for their chronic inflammation, mainly tonsillitis (tonsillitis); one of the most common operations in otorhinolaryngology. Surgical removal of the tonsils under local anesthesia has recently received less attention: it is recognized that surgery should only be a last resort for the treatment of acute inflammation of the palatine arches and tonsils
