What to do if caries appears?
Among all dental diseases, caries is perhaps the most common.
It affects both children and adults.
And there are many reasons for this.
This could be improper brushing of the teeth and mouth after meals, too frequent consumption of sweets (destruction of enamel), mechanical damage to the teeth (when teeth are used as a tool for stripping wires or when we simply chew on some objects, for example, a pen, pencil , or we clean the seeds with our teeth - there are very, very many such cases) and so on.
If caries appears on a tooth, you should immediately contact a dentist. Fortunately, dental clinics are now located in every city and small towns. As they say, it would only be your desire.
If you ignore caries, it can end very sadly. Over time, the damage to the tooth will become more and more severe until the infection reaches the root of the tooth. And then you will no longer be able to escape toothache (those who have had it know how painful and unbearable it is).
And then you still have to go to the dentist. But not for the treatment of caries, but for tooth extraction and installation of a prosthesis or implant. The difference is quite noticeable, isn't it?
Treatment of caries
There are several directions in the treatment of caries. Classic caries treatment involves getting rid of the damaged part of the tooth by drilling it out. Then a filling and, if necessary, a crown are placed in the resulting hole (or hole).
That’s why you should contact your dentist immediately after discovering caries, in order to avoid tooth extraction and complications, and also to save your money.
But we ourselves cannot always notice the resulting caries.
Therefore, you need to regularly, at least once every 4-6 months, undergo a preventive dental examination.
There are also other methods of treating caries, innovative ones, so to speak. These include the air-kinetic method (cleaning teeth of caries using a powerful stream of water and air), which is especially effective in the initial stages of the disease.
This also includes the treatment of caries using laser technology without drilling the tooth, as well as a chemical-mechanical system, which involves the use of a special gel.
This gel contains three amino acids, as well as sodium hypochloride.
After treating the damaged tooth with it, the dentist removes the dentin affected by caries with instruments.
The carious cavity that forms as a result of this is small, an order of magnitude smaller than after drilling.
As you can see, caries treatment can be carried out in several directions. Some methods are more painful, but cheaper (drilling). Others cause almost no pain, but are expensive (chemical-mechanical, laser and air-kinetic). But all of them bring results and allow you to get rid of caries.
