Tweezers Otta

OTTA PINCERS - a tool for examining fast-moving or brightly luminous objects through binoculars. Title and received in honor of Ernst Ott (1840-75), a major researcher of the organic world. It is designed in the same way as regular tweezers, but is connected to the handle with a hinge, which allows it to diverge with little effort. Since when examining a fast-moving object it is necessary to perform two different actions with it simultaneously (look through the eyepiece and hold the tweezers), inconvenience is created. In this case, in order to maintain the immobility of the handle, it is rotated relative to the hinge axis until the edge of the tweezers begins to touch the object under study. After this, the tweezers are positioned, grasping the object with all force. Such sudden movements can damage the micro-object. Therefore, some Ott tweezers have blades covered with protective rims. The performance of Ott tweezers is sometimes insufficient.
