Stinking cornflower is a perennial herbaceous plant of the Asteraceae family. It grows in meadows, forests and shrubs in Europe and Asia.

Stinking cornflower herb contains essential oil, tannins, saponins, resins, organic acids and has hypotensive, sedative, antispasmodic, choleretic, diuretic and anti-inflammatory effects.

Application: in folk medicine, decoction and infusion of the herb is used for hypertension, neuroses, insomnia, cramps, colic, as a choleretic and diuretic.

The tincture and extract are used as an antihypertensive agent, as well as for diseases of the liver and biliary tract.
