The veins of the heart (lat. vena cordis) are a system of vessels that supply blood to the heart muscle. The cardiac veins play an important role in maintaining the normal functioning of the heart by transporting blood from the myocardium to the lungs for oxygenation and reducing venous pressure.
The veins of the heart can be classified into two groups: large and small. The large veins of the heart are located deep in the heart muscle and connect to the right atrium, the small veins of the heart are a network of vessels that supply blood to the myocardium (heart muscle). Each of these groups of veins has its own characteristics and functions.
