Velvet Amur
A tree of the Rutaceae family, up to 30 m high. The leaves are compound, odd-pinnate, alternately arranged. Blooms in June - July. The flowers are greenish, small, collected in paniculate inflorescences. The fruit is a spherical, black drupe with a juicy pericarp. Ripens in September.
Amur velvet is widespread in the Primorsky Territory and in the south of Khabarovsk. It grows singly or in groups in river valleys, on the slopes of hills, in mixed, deciduous and mountain forests, in rich, well-drained soils. It is a good honey plant.
The plant helps clean the air from bacteria. The leaves serve as food for sika deer. The wood is resistant to rotting, so it is used to make linoleum and linkcrust.
The essential oil of the fruit has a phytoncidal effect, which makes it possible to use it as an insecticide in the fight against the apple codling moth. Extracts from various parts of the plant color tissues and skin green. Lub is a source of yellow dye for silk, cotton and linen.
Medicinal raw materials are roots, bark, phloem, leaves and fruits. The fruits are collected when ripe, dried in the open air and dried under a canopy or in a dryer at a temperature of 40-50°C.
Leaves are harvested in the first half of summer in dry, clear weather. Dry under a canopy, turning often. Store raw materials in tightly closed containers for 1 year.
The wood and branches contain alkaloids (berberine, etc.). Bark - carbohydrates, alkaloids, betasitosterol, phenolcarboxylic acids and flavonoids. Bast contains carbohydrates, saponins, alkaloids, steroids, coumarins and tannins.
The leaves contain essential oil, alkaloids, vitamins C and P, coumarins, tannins and flavonoids. The fruits contain carbohydrates, essential oil, terpenoids, alkaloids, coumarins, tannins and flavonoids.
This plant has a very wide range of indications for the treatment of eczema, dysentery, typhoid, respiratory infections, hepatitis, cervical cancer, pneumonia, bone and pulmonary tuberculosis, diabetes, leprosy and other diseases.
The roots have antitumor activity. The bark and bast are used to treat various types of leprosy and kidney inflammation. Bast is used for digestive disorders, dysentery, decreased appetite, skin diseases, nervous system disorders, mental fatigue, allergies, polyarthritis, inflammation of the lymph nodes, pneumonia, pulmonary tuberculosis, sore throat and to expel worms.

A decoction, infusion and tincture from various parts of Amur velvet have anti-inflammatory, astringent, antipyretic, hemostatic, diuretic, anthelmintic, deodorizing, wound-healing, fungicidal and antitumor effects, tone the central nervous system and increase appetite.
Velvet leaves are used for dysentery, functional disorders of the nervous system, neurodermatitis and herpes. They are a good bactericidal and anti-putrefactive agent.
The fruits have a positive effect on tuberculosis, diarrhea, functional disorders of the nervous system, liver diseases, fever and urinary retention. They are used as an anthelmintic.
The fruit infusion has antiseptic and deodorizing properties. It is used for diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity.
To prepare the infusion, pour 6 g of leaves into 1 glass of hot water, boil in a closed enamel container in a water bath for 15 minutes, cool at room temperature, filter through two or three layers of gauze and bring the volume to a boil.
