**The ulnar (median) vein** is a small artery in the structure of the upper limb. Its name is synonymous with the Latin term "vena cubitalis media" (elbow + middle).
Anatomy and function
It originates inside the body and runs under the skin around the upper pectoral and back muscles, which can cause discomfort in the sternum when palpated. Passing through the back of the elbow and forearm, it attaches to the medial side of the cubital fossa.
