Venitan: a drug for the treatment of vein diseases and edema

Venitan is a drug belonging to the group of angioprotectors, produced in Slovenia by the Lek DD company. It contains an active substance - escin, which has an anti-inflammatory and anti-edematous effect.

The drug Venitan is used for various vein diseases, including varicose veins, as well as for swelling caused by injury, surgery or other reasons. It can be used to prevent and relieve swelling during plastic surgery, as well as to accelerate the recovery of organ and tissue function after sports injuries.

The drug is available in the form of cream and gel, 50 grams each. It contains only one active ingredient - escin. The drug is not recommended for use in case of hypersensitivity to its components, renal failure, as well as in the first trimester of pregnancy and during breastfeeding. It is also worth considering restrictions on use if there is a tendency to thrombosis and impaired renal function.

When using Venitan, side effects may occur, such as a feeling of heat, nausea, allergic reactions in the form of skin rash, urticaria, angioedema, and rarely, anaphylactic shock. Interaction with anticoagulants may enhance their effect, so caution should be exercised during simultaneous use.

There is no data on overdose with Venitan. However, when using the drug, it is necessary to periodically monitor renal function.
