Vepamil

Vepamil is a phenylalkylamine calcium channel blocker used to treat various cardiovascular diseases such as angina, hypertension and some forms of arrhythmia. Active ingredient: Verapamil.

The drug is manufactured by Sbrolek in Bosnia and is the most common and well-known representative of the phenylalkylamine group of calcium channel blockers.

Vepamil is presented on the market in the form of retard tablets 120 mg and solution for injection 5 mg. The drug has a number of contraindications, including hypersensitivity, severe hypotension, cardiogenic shock, AV block II and III degrees, myocardial infarction, chronic heart failure stage III and others.

However, when prescribed correctly and in compliance with the dosage, Vepamil shows high effectiveness in the treatment of patients with various cardiovascular diseases.

It should be noted that when using Vepamil, side effects may occur, including headache, dizziness, nervousness, nausea and others. In this regard, it is necessary to take special care when prescribing the drug and regularly monitor the patient’s condition.

It is also important to take into account possible interactions of Vepamil with other drugs, for example, an increase in plasma levels of digoxin, cyclosporine, theophylline, carbamazepine, as well as a weakening of the antibacterial activity of rifampicin and the depressive effect of phenobarbital.

In general, Vepamil is an effective drug for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, but its use should only be done after consultation with a qualified physician and following all recommendations for dosage and monitoring of the patient's condition.
