Vero-Amlodipine: description, application, side effects and features

Vero-Amlodipine is a drug that belongs to the dihydropyridine group of calcium channel blockers. The active substance is amlodipine, which is used in the treatment of arterial hypertension and stable and vasospastic angina (Prinzmetal), including in patients resistant to therapy with nitrates or beta-blockers.

The drug is produced by several companies, including Veropharm/Belgorod/Ocasa Pharma (Russia) and Veropharm/Belgorod branch (Russia). The international name of the drug is Amlodipine, and synonyms include Agen, Acridipine, Amlovas, Amlotop, Aronar, Kalchek, Cardilopin, Corvadil, Norvadin, Norvasc, Normodipine, Omelar cardio, Stamlo and Tenox.

The drug is presented in the form of tablets with a dosage of 5 mg and 10 mg. It contains only one active substance - Amlodipine.

Side effects may occur when using Vero-Amlodipine. From the cardiovascular system and blood, facial skin flushing, palpitations, rhythm disturbances, chest pain, hypotension (including orthostatic) may be observed. From the nervous system and sensory organs, fatigue, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, asthenia, mood changes, and visual disturbances may occur. From the genitourinary system, peripheral edema (swelling of the ankles and feet), increased frequency of urination, and impotence may be observed. From the gastrointestinal tract, nausea, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, changes in bowel movements, and jaundice may occur. From the respiratory system, shortness of breath may be observed. From the musculoskeletal system, arthralgia, myalgia, paresthesia and pain in the limbs may occur (with long-term use). The skin may experience rashes, itching, and erythema multiforme. Other side effects may include gum hyperplasia, gynecomastia, and increased liver enzymes.

Vero-Amlodipine is compatible with the main groups of antihypertensive drugs (diuretics, ACE inhibitors, beta-blockers), nitrates and hypoglycemic drugs. However, the use of Vero-Amlodipine may enhance the effect of other antihypertensive drugs, which can lead to a severe decrease in blood pressure and the development of side effects.

When using Vero-Amlodipine, caution must be exercised in the presence of liver disease, kidney disease, heart failure, arrhythmia and aortic valve stenosis. It is also not recommended to use the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
