Vero-Roxithromycin is an antibiotic from the group of macrolides and azalides, which is used to treat various infections. It is produced by Veropharm, Belgorod and Ocasa Pharma in Russia and has the international name Roxithromycin.

The dosage form of Vero-Roxithromycin is film-coated tablets containing 150 mg of the active substance - roxithromycin. The drug has many synonyms, such as Brilid, Roxibid, Roxihexal, Roxid, Roxitem, Roxithromycin Lek, Rulid, Rulitsin, Elrox.

Vero-Roxithromycin is effective in the treatment of infections of the respiratory tract and ENT organs, such as tonsillitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis, diphtheria, whooping cough, otitis media, atypical pneumonia, bacterial infections in chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, acute bronchitis and exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, panbronchiolitis, bronchiectasis. The drug is also used to treat infections of the genitourinary system, such as urethritis, endometritis, cervico-vaginitis caused by chlamydia and mycoplasma, as well as infections of the skin and soft tissues, such as erysipelas, cellulitis, boils, folliculitis, impetigo, pyoderma.

The drug can be used to treat the oral cavity, including periodontitis, periostitis, chronic osteomyelitis, and erythema migrans. It may also be prescribed for the prevention of meningococcal meningitis in persons who have been in contact with cases, as well as in patients with bacteremia and endocarditis before dental surgery.

When using Vero-Roxithromycin, contraindications and possible side effects must be taken into account. The drug is not recommended for hypersensitivity (including to other macrolide antibiotics), severe liver dysfunction, pregnancy, breastfeeding (stop during treatment), infancy (up to 2 months), as well as while taking drugs such as ergotamine.

The drug does not interact with cytochrome P450, so it can be prescribed to patients receiving medications metabolized by this enzyme. However, it may increase the concentration of drugs metabolized by the liver, so it should be used with caution in combination with such drugs. It should also be taken into account that roxithromycin may affect the results of some laboratory tests, such as determining the level of cardiotropic protein T and C-reactive protein.
