Veromil: description of the drug, indications for use and possible side effects
Veromil is a drug that belongs to the group of calcium channel blockers of the phenylalkylamine group. It is used to treat various diseases of the cardiovascular system, such as paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia, sinus tachycardia, atrial extrasystole, atrial fibrillation and flutter, angina pectoris (including Prinzmetal, tension, post-infarction), arterial hypertension, hypertensive crisis, idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
The active ingredient of Veromil is verapamil, which is a calcium channel blocker. It reduces the permeability of calcium in the muscle cells of the heart and blood vessels, which leads to a decrease in the contractile function of the heart and vasodilation. This reduces the load on the heart and lowers blood pressure.
The drug is available in the form of film-coated tablets at a dosage of 0.08 g and a solution for intravenous injection at a concentration of 2.5 mg/ml. Veromil is produced by Bryntsalov-A in Russia.
Despite the effectiveness of veromil in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, it has a number of contraindications and limitations for use. The drug is not recommended for hypersensitivity to verapamil, severe hypotension, cardiogenic shock, AV block II and III degrees, myocardial infarction (acute or recent and complicated by bradycardia, hypotension, left ventricular failure), chronic heart failure stage III, WPW syndrome and weakness of the sinus node (if a pacemaker is not implanted), sinoatrial block, Morgagni-Adams-Stokes syndrome, digitalis intoxication, severe stenosis of the aortic mouth, pregnancy and breastfeeding.
You should also be careful when prescribing veromil for AV block of the first degree, chronic heart failure stages I and II, severe bradycardia (less than 50 beats/min), mild or moderate hypotension, severe myopathy (Duchenne syndrome), impaired liver or kidney function, ventricular tachycardia with a wide QRS complex (for intravenous administration), as well as while taking certain other medications, such as antibiotics, antiarrhythmics, antidepressants, antihistamines, etc.
Possible side effects when using Veromil may include dizziness, headache, drowsiness, nausea, constipation, swelling, arrhythmias, fainting, low blood pressure, increased activity of liver enzymes, etc. If any unusual or unpleasant symptoms occur, you should consult a doctor for adjustment of the dose or regimen of the drug.
When prescribing Veromil, you must strictly follow your doctor's recommendations and not exceed the recommended dose. It is also necessary to avoid interrupting the course of treatment and changing the dosage on your own without consulting your doctor.
