The sheep's whirligig, or waxwing, is usually found in young individuals (usually under 2 years of age). It is characterized by a triad of main symptoms: damage to the nervous system, poor appetite, lethargy and passivity. An infectious disease caused by Borrelia babesiosis is transmitted through the bite of an infected ixodid tick. It affects not only animals, but also people, and is especially dangerous for children.
