Rodent polyencephalitis virus

Rodent polyencephalitis virus (PPMV) is an infectious virus that causes dangerous disease in humans and other animals. This can lead to death and disability due to damage to the nervous system. The virus is common in regions where there are rodents such as rats, mice, voles and other rodents. It is spread through contact with infected rodents or through contaminated materials such as food or water. Symptoms of infection may include fever, headache, weakness and confusion. Treatment includes the use of antiviral drugs, but it is possible that symptoms may persist for a long time or even be fatal. Prevention includes using insecticides to kill rodents and maintaining hygiene in environments where transmission of the virus is possible.
